Lascaux Plate-Backing Resist is a non-toxic, water-soluble acid resist designed to protect the back and edges of printing plates during the etching process. It is available in various bottle sizes.

Formulated as part of an acrylic-resist etching system (ARE), this red-tinted coating provides high scratch and acid resistance on metals like copper, zinc, steel, brass, and aluminium. This tinted, scratch-proof etching medium is applied to the edges and rear sides of the printing plate to prevent unwanted etching during the acid bath.

The red coloured resist is highly acid resistant, durable and scratch resistant. It can also be used to create a variety of effects on collagraph plates.
