Liquitex® | PROFESSIONAL ACRYLIC MEDIUMS™ — Modelling Paste

Liquitex® PROFESSIONAL ACRYLIC MEDIUMS™ Modelling Paste is a thick matt paste used to build heavy textures on rigid supports, and to create three-dimensional forms such as sculptures and bas-reliefs.

It is made from marble dust and 100% polymer emulsion, and is available in various pot sizes.

This Liquitex® Modelling Paste is an excellent opaque base for acrylic paint, oil paint, oil pastel, oil bars, watercolour, graphite or dry pastel. It can be mixed with acrylic colours to create a coloured paste, and adheres to any non-oily absorbent surface. The paste can be applied with knife, brush etc. in layers less than 1/4" thick. To prevent shrinkage cracks dry it slowly by covering loosely with plastic wrap. It dries as hard as stone and can be sanded, carved and painted once thoroughly dry. To increase flexibility it can be mixed with up to 50% gel medium.

TIP! Liquitex® Modelling Paste can be used like clay if you so wish. Simply remove the top of the container and allow some of the water to evaporate slowly until it reaches a clay-like consistency.
