Speedball® MID-FIRE™ GLAZES are high-quality stoneware glazes developed in collaboration with ceramic artist Nancy Sowder. When fired in the cone 5 to 6 range, they produce exceptionally decorative, marbled and reduction-like effects.

Each colour has its own characteristic depth and variation and can be used individually or in combination with other MID-FIRE™ GLAZES. The glazes can be applied by brushing, pouring or dipping and are also suitable for layering techniques to achieve additional visual effects and colour variations. Once the glaze has dried on the work, the piece is fired in the stoneware range. For consistent results, the manufacturer recommends a normal cooling cycle after firing.

All colours in the series are lead-free, AP-certified and, when used correctly, suitable for tableware, making them ideal for bowls, plates and other functional ceramics.

The glazes are optimised for use on bisque-fired clay items and offer different surfaces depending on the colour shade – from matt to silky to glossy, as well as transparent, opaque or marbled effects.

NB: As ceramic glazes can vary depending on application, kiln atmosphere and firing process, the manufacturer recommends making a test piece.
