This Clairefontaine FONTAINE Extra Rough watercolour paper has a torchon surface. The 300 gsm paper promotes interesting texture effects without being too pronounced.

It is just as suitable for wash techniques as for impasto, and is perfect for watercolour pencils too.

Clairefontaine FONTAINE Extra Rough watercolour paper is 100% cotton, 300 gsm, pH neutral and free from optical brighteners. It is manufactured on a cylinder machine but the purity of the water and cotton used to make the pulp, combined with the quality and consistency of the sizing (both in the pulp and on the surface) make this paper unique in its handmade-like finish. Using Clairefontaine FONTAINE paper is a joy because it has a great capacity for absorption and resistance to wrinkling, whilst offering excellent colour reproduction and preserving the transparency of the colours The quality of the finish means retouching is also possible.

Clairefontaine FONTAINE Extra Rough watercolour paper is available as blocks, pads, individual sheets (minimum order quantity 3 sheets), or packs of 5 sheets.
