We have structured the colour spectrum of Gerstaecker Finest Artists' Pigments in such a way that you can easily produce your own high-quality artists' colours with any suitable binder using this pigment range.
The range has the greatest possible variety of colour shades, for every requirement and every painting technique.
In the colour range, the highly brilliant and highly opaque SYNUS pigments form the head of each segment for the painter who wants to create with opaque colour surfaces. The centre of each shade range is formed by very affordable, brilliant glazing pigments. They form a counterpart to azo and phthalo pigments. Since pigment types with significantly better application properties are used in the yellow/orange/red range, a clear advantage is offered here. The recipes of the Synus pigments - whose name comes from "Synergy" - are developed exclusively for Gerstaecker.
These pigments are relatively easy to process, if necessary by stirring them in, and thus suit the painter who shuns time-consuming work, as well as the bulk consumer. Furthermore, practically all common colour pigments that are of value to the user are available. On the one hand, these highly interesting specialities, some of them the latest developments in the pigment sector, and on the other hand, sought-after classic artists' pigments.
The selection of Gerstaecker Finest Artists' Pigments were therefore made very carefully. The focus was on our endeavour to select pigments that correspond to the latest state of application technology development, guarantee the highest application fastnesses and ensure an optimal price-performance ratio.

More information required - On the face of it, the Extra Fine Artists Pigments are good quality and good value. However, Gerstaecker don't seem able to provide necessary detail of their composition in English. This is a rather important omission as pigments behave differently from one another in the mixing process with binders. Moreover, since some of Gerstaecker's colours are not included lists of other pigment providers, it isn't always possible to work out their chemical content. For example, as far as I can see, Phthalocyanine Lemon Yellow is a strong pigment, but it is not marketted by any other artist's paint manufacturer, nor is it listed by other pigment providers. So is it really Phthalocyanine, or something else? And what is the chemical substance of Sulphur Indigo Bordeaux? Can we have more information, please!
Beautifully smooth pigments with lovely colours - I recently bought two of these pigments from GreatArt, the light ultramarine blue, and the Brilliant Gold.
The Artists and Illustrators magazine a few months ago had recipes for making paints. I have just made egg tempera and oil paint with these pigment to show children how paints used to be made. The colours are lovely, and the pigment is so fine that it did not need to be ground further. My only complaint is that I only have these two colours! I need more!
