The pigmentless and transparent Gesso 2021 from Lascaux is an acrylate-based semi-absorbent semi-chalk primer, with which you can universally prepare absorbent surfaces. It is ideal for glazing layers.

Depending on the desired thickness, the surface and any pre-priming, you can dilute the gesso with water or not as required, and spread it easily and evenly with a spreader, roller or spatula. It adheres extremely well. In general, it is recommended to apply two or more thin coats crosswise, with a drying time between coats of two to three hours.

TIP! You can colour this gesso with a dot of acrylic paint. White gesso can of course also be coloured with a dot of acrylic paint. But because it contains white pigment, you will always get a somewhat chalky result. With this pigment-free gesso - depending on the colour you choose - you get a more transparent result, perfect for a classic imprimatura, for example.

Product specifications of Lascaux Gesso 2021 at a glance:

  • acrylic-based primer
  • pigmentless and transparent
  • can be coloured with acrylic colours
  • comparable to a classic semi-chalk primer

N.B. It is always advisable to test a specific application first.
