MAIMERI COARSE ACRYLIC PUMICE 659 is a thick, grey-coloured modelling paste consisting of coarse-grained pumice from the volcanic island of Lipari — one of the Aeolian Islands northeast of Sicily — in an acrylic polymer emulsion.
You can use this paste on its own or mixed with acrylic paint and some types of gouache or watercolour paint, for example, to build up texture and relief. You can even work in very thick, pasty layers and with extreme textures. Your work will dry without cracking - this paste is very flexible and has a relatively low weight. After drying, you will have a matt, porous and highly receptive surface with a rough appearance, on which you can continue to work with acrylic paint.
TIP! With this paste, you can also achieve sandy effects and textures, such as in plasterwork. The natural, greyish colour of the pumice also dulls the colours of the paint you mix it with.
