An ABIG Firing Support is a metal support with sharp points onto which you place the piece to be enamelled in the kiln. This minimises contact with the base and reduces the risk of molten glass running onto the kiln floor, the firing plate or the firing grate.

And because these points are very sharp, the contact between the firing support itself and the piece is also minimal: just three or four tiny points. The heat can also circulate evenly around your piece — ensuring better adhesion and an optimal gloss of the enamel layer.

The product specifications of the ABIG Firing Support:

  • V2A steel — heat-resistant up to 1,100° C
  • three-legged / three-point — for smaller objects
  • four-legged / four-point — for larger or heavier objects

TIP! When enamelling on both sides — where you apply a counter-enamel, for example to prevent warping — using a firing support like this prevents the enamel on the underside, which has already been enamelled, from fusing to the substrate when you fire the top side.
