The description of these Gerstaecker Flat Ox Hair Brushes as student quality under estimates the quality of a superb useful brush. I suppose the tin ferrule and bare wooden handle makes it look cheap but don't be put off by this. I use mine in watercolour for wetting the paper and laying large washes of strong vibrant colour. I love these brushes and have them in constant use throughout a painting. The only quibble was a loose handle on one brush into the ferule. I corrected mine with some Milliput which hardens and secures the brush. I do this with many of my brushes that need attention. I found the larger and largest brushes the best. The smaller ones are a little too small for watercolour but useful for lifting out and correction, and of course acrylic. Gerstaecker have a brilliant brush here. I really love it. At a masterclass I attended the tutor was overwhelmed by the large size and its usefulness.
