Lascaux | Soft Resist — non-toxic

Lascaux Soft Resist is a water-soluble, ready-to-use, and non-toxic liquid acid resist designed as a modern, safe alternative to traditional heavy-metal soft grounds in acrylic-resist etching systems.

This resist provides printmakers with a slow-drying formula that offsets easily, making it perfect for creating crayon-like or pencil-like drawings, as well as capturing delicate texture transfers from collage elements like feathers, fabrics, or mesh. It is highly versatile and suitable for use on a wide variety of metals including copper, brass, zinc, steel, and aluminium. It has been specially designed as part of the acrylic-resist etching system (ARE).

The lines, marks and textures which can be generated by using Lascaux Soft Resist in its soft state are comparable to those offered by traditional soft grounds. When the layer of resist is dry it may be drawn into with a range of etching tools or stopped-out. It is compatible with the other Lascaux resists and photopolymer resists such as Photec.
