This MAIMERI SAFFLOWER OIL 648 is a refined and extremely pure semi-drying oil with characteristics similar to poppy seed oil. It is ideal for wet-on-wet applications and glaze layers.

Because safflower oil does not yellow, it is often used in oil painting for whites and other light colours, either on its own or in combination with linseed oil. However, the paint film is somewhat less robust than the paint film you get when using pure linseed oil.

TIP! This oil dries slowly. To prevent craquelure or even detachment of the upper layers of paint, never use safflower oil in the lower layers of your painting and never under linseed oil based paint. It is best to use it thinly and only in the upper layers of your painting.
