SCHMINCKE Stand Linseed Oil 015 is an important binder and preservative for oil colours. Linseed stand oil is used as a binder component for painting mediums and for the self-rubbing of oil colours and tempera emulsions.
This oil is produced exclusively by polymerisation at high temperatures in the absence of oxygen. It therefore behaves differently from bleached, cold-whipped linseed oil, in that it is:
- more viscous
- tougher
- less yellowing
- dries more slowly
- colours rubbed from linseed stand oil are: more elastic, water resistant, weather resistant, resistant to ageing
